Trends Explorer
Watch radius, electronegativity and ionisation energy move across the table.
What it is
The trends explorer turns three great periodic patterns — atomic radius, electronegativity and ionisation energy — into interactive charts drawn across all 118 elements. Hover or tap any point and a tooltip names the element and shows its value, so you can walk along a period or down a group and watch the numbers rise and fall. Where no standard value exists, the chart leaves an honest gap rather than inventing one. Element pages also deep-link into the charts, opening with the right property selected and the view scrolled to your element.
Why it helps you study
‘Atomic radius decreases across a period’ is an exam line every student meets — and the chart is where that line finally becomes visible. Instead of trusting a sentence, you watch the curve bend yourself, element by element, until the pattern lives in your eyes. The tooltips make revision fast, the honest gaps teach you that real data has edges, and the deep links let you jump straight from any element page to its place on the curve.
How to use it
- Open the trends page and pick a property: radius, electronegativity or ionisation energy.
- Drag or hover across the chart and read each element’s tooltip.
- Follow one period left to right, then one group top to bottom.
- Jump into a chart from any element page to see that element in context.
Questions students ask
Why are some elements missing from a chart?
Because no standard measured value exists for them — the charts leave an honest gap instead of showing a made-up number that could mislead you in the exam hall.
Can I open a trend straight from an element page?
Yes — element pages deep-link into the trends charts with the right property pre-selected and the view scrolled to your element.
