Electron — ইলেকট্রন

Quick answer

An electron is the tiny negative particle that races around the nucleus in shells.

Definition

An electron is a very light particle carrying one unit of negative charge. It moves through shells around the nucleus, and almost all chemistry — bonding, reactions, electricity — is really electron business. An electron's mass is about 1/1836 of a proton's, so atoms owe nearly all their weight to the nucleus. J. J. Thomson discovered it in 1897, the first subatomic particle found. The outermost electrons are the valence electrons that form bonds.

For example

When you switch on a torch, electrons drift along the copper wire and hand the battery's energy to the bulb — an electric current is simply electrons on the move.
